AAA: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees
Nelson Figueroa turned in a “quality” start for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tonight and left with the game tied before Chase Whitley surrendered three runs in the seventh and Preston Claiborne surrendered three in the eighth, causing Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fall 9-3. Figueroa, who made it through six frames, had allowed  three runs on ten hits before leaving, while only striking out one hitter. Offensively, Corban Joseph had started everything off right in the first inning, scoring Chris Dickerson on an RBI double. Joseph and Jack Cust would both come around to score later in the inning on a pair of walks. That would be the extent of scoring for the Yankees, who went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

AA: Trenton Thunder
Vidal Nuno turned in another great performance for the Thunder this afternoon, pitching six strong innings of one-run baseball. The ace of the Trenton pitching staff allowed just six hits while striking out five. He lowered his season ERA to 1.56 while earning his fifth victory. After Nuno, Craig Heyer and Francisco Rondon would combine for three shutout innings to secure the 7-1 victory over Binghamton. Offensively, it was the bottom of the lineup that got the job done for Trenton, as the sixth through ninth hitters in the lineup contributed all five of the team’s RBIs. Jose Gil was the only Thunder batter to produce multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

High-A: Tampa Yankees
Tampa’s offense exploded for ten runs this afternoon, allowing them to defeat the Jupiter Hammerheads 10-3. Kyle Roller led the Yankees in both RBI (3), hits (3), and had the team’s only home run – his 14th of the season. Zach Wilson, Mason Williams, Ramon Flores, and Gary Sanchez also contributed, knocking in at least one run a piece. On the mound, Jose Ramirez earned another win, allowing just two runs on four hits in five innings of work. The victory is his fourth of the season. Kramer Sneed had a good outing on the mound as well, allowing just one hit over the final 2 1/3 shutout innings. After the game, it was announced that super-reliever Mark Montgomery is headed to Trenton, leaving the Yankees to find a new closer for the remainder of the Florida State League season.
